White Vinegar
Your dishwasher can be kept clean from germs with vinegar, white vinegar to be precise. All you have to do is pour half a cup of white vinegar into the detergent cups. Then put on the machine on for a full cycle. Make sure the dishwasher is kept empty through this process. If you are not a fan of white vinegar, then you can also use a lemon-flavored Kool-Aid for the same outcome.
Blocks of Ice
Toss a few blocks of ice into your garbage disposal. This breaks up any grease that may have gathered and kept your disposal clean from germs and bacteria. Then, every couple of weeks, let the cold water run and turn on the disposal. You can always add citrus peels to fight off those pesky odors too. You will notice that citrus is a running theme for cost-effective home cleaning.
Dryer Sheets
Get burned food off of your pots with some of these simple cleaning tips. Put one dryer sheet in a pot and fill the pot with warm water. Let this sit overnight. In the morning take a sponge to the pot and watch the food come off of the pot quickly and easily. Dryer sheets are made up of antistatic agents, and these agents make the bond between the food and the pan deteriorate.
Newspaper

Keep germs and bacteria from living in your kitchen and home. These little buggers usually build their home in your sponges (the one thing in your kitchen that needs to be clean at all times!). Make sure to rinse your sponges after every use. Squeeze them dry and then place them in your microwave for 2 - 3 minutes. Say goodbye to germs!
Citrus and Lemon
Use the awesome power of lemon to sanitize your microwave. All you need is half a lemon. Squeeze the lemon juice into a little bowl filled with water. Place the bowl in the microwave for 4 - 5 minutes. The scent of the lemon juice gets rid of odors. It will also loosen any food splatters that may have hardened on the surface of the microwave making it easier to clean - simply wipe away with a cloth.
